Goodbye Old Friend
We are very sad to say that today has been Mr Coyne's last full day at School of Christ the King!
Mr Coyne came to CTK as a child, and loved it so much that he never left! He has been a member of staff here for over 30 years, and whilst his role has changed a lot within that time, his love and dedication for the school and the children has never wavered.
Now, whilst Mr Coyne probably wishes he was retiring - he is simply moving on, to a full-time role within the 224 Youth Centre Team. The silver lining to this is that he will still be very much part of the community and will be able to stay in touch with lots of the families he has worked so hard to support over the years!
We hope you will join us in saying a big thank you for 30+ years of service and wishing him the very best of luck with the next part of his journey!
Parent View
During our recent parents evenings, we asked parents and carers to complete our annual 'Parent View Questionnaire. The positive responses were overwhelming, and we can't thank you enough for your wonderful feedback.
To view the results of the questionnaire - visit our 'Feedback' page here
This year, we added some sections to the questionnaire and asked you to share with us our 'greatest strengths' as a school...your comments were not only helpful, but also heartwarming! It was so lovely to see so many of you saying such lovely things...
As well as asking about our greatest strengths, we also asked you to share your opinions on what we could improve. The main concern from parents was around homework - we have taken this on board and you will be pleased to know that Mr Condon and Mrs Jordan will be looking at this when we return to school in Term 2.
Another concern that was raised was around bullying, and how we resolve issues. If your child has had an issue with bullying that you feel has not been resolved, please get in touch with us to discuss this. You can also view our school complaints policy if after discussing your concerns you are still unhappy with any outcomes.
Club Changes
When we return to school for Term 2, there will be a number of changes to be aware of:
Year 5/6 Football Club has now finished - Football club during Term 2 will be for Years 3 & 4. Parents can sign up in the Arbor App or speak to Miss Morse to book their child a space.
Art Club will be returning for Years 3-6 in Term 2. There will be limited spaces available and children who would like to take part will need to commit to the whole term as they will be working on a project. Please speak to Miss Morse if your child would like to sign up.
If your child has been attending Archery this term it does not automatically guarantee them a space for next term. Spaces are limited and children who have not had a chance to attend yet will be prioritised. Please speak to Miss Morse if your child would like to sign up.
First Holy Communion
If your child is in Year 3 or above and you would like them to make their First Holy Communion in 2027, please collect a form from Mrs Miller at school.
Preparation sessions for First Holy Communion will start around February/March time with the service taking place in June 2027.
Great Glaciers!!
This week, Year 3 had a visit from glaciologist Matt who told them about his exciting treks up Mount Everest to study glaciers.
They carried out their own glacier experiment in the classroom involving slime and tried on some of his mountaineering equipment and clothes.
Matt even gave Year 3 a rock from Mount Everest! Year 3 have given Matt a flag with all of their names on to take with him when he climbs another mountain in the Himalayas. We wish him the best of luck on his next expedition!
School Meals Menu
When we return to school for Term 2, there will be a new menu in place the Autumn/Winter Months.
You can view the new menu here
Please also be aware that there will be no wraps/salad bar on the menu for these colder months. We know that this is a favourite for many children so please let them know it will not be available.
As well as Headteachers awards, and rewards in class, children at CTK can also earn 'leaves' for demonstrating our Gospel Values outside of the classroom. These leaves are added to the Tree in our foyer, which grows more and more throughout the school year...
The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
Ten:Ten Faith Newsletter - October
The Ten:Ten monthly parent newsletter gives you an overview of the content children will experience in school throughout the month and suggestions of ways for you to engage with them about it at home.
A big well done to Year 3 who are the only class to make it onto the Attendance Leader Board this week!
We look forward to sharing with you our Term 1 100% attenders in our next newsletter! They will all be rewarded with a prize from the attendance chest!
Term Time Absence Requests
Please can we politely remind parents that they should not be booking holidays during term time.
If, however, you do need to take your child out of school, please can we ask that absence requests are made at least 2 weeks prior to the date of leave.
Please also be reminded that leave of 5 days or more during term time may result in a penalty notice (fine)
