Playground Leaders
We have now named our Playground Leaders for the new school year!
Our Playground leaders are a group of Year 5 & 6 pupils who will be working together to lead games and activities for our younger pupils during lunch time play.
This is a great opportunity for them to practice their leadership skills, but also to act a great role models for younger members of the school!
We look forward to sharing news about the work they will be doing late in the school year!
Parents' Evenings
Bookings for parents' evening is now open. Parents' Evenings are a fantastic opportunity to hear how well your child is getting on at school, and discuss any concerns around learning you may have with your child's teacher.
Please contact the school office to book an appointment.
Year 3/4 Camp
Last week, our Year 3 and 4 pupils went off to Barton Camp for an exciting night away.
The children had a brilliant time, taking part in some amazing walks, woodland crafts and lots of fun in the swimming pool and at the playground!
Once again, a big thank you to our dedicated (and adventurous) staff for giving up their own time to provide out children with such wonderful opportunities - we couldn't do it without them!
Calm, Kind and Consistent
Since returning to school this academic year, we have been working with our children on behaviour and expectations around school.
We have been doing lots of practicing of lining up after break and lunch, and being ready to go into class in a way that ensures children are ready to learn.
We have been using 'Calm, Kind and Consistent' as words to remind the children of the expections around their behaviour whilst in school.
We're pleased to say that so far, all of the children have been doing really well and we're hoping this new motto will help them stay ready to learn throughout the rest of the school year!
Pupil Safety - Walking to and from school
Like many children their age, lots of children in our Key Stage 2 classes walk themselves to and from school each day.
Whilst this is a great for giving them a sense of independance and responsibility, it's important that we all remember the safety aspect of children travelling alone.
If your child is currently walking without an adult, please take the time to have a discussion with them about how to keep safe. Here are some key questions:
What would happen if you were approached by a stranger?
What would you do if no one was home when they arrived after school?
Do you know how to be safe when crossing the road?
If your child ever has any concerns about something they have seen or heard whilst walking alone, please encourage them to talk to you or a member of school staff so we can all work together to keep them safe.
We now require written consent for ALL children to walk home alone
Please be reminded that whislt we highly encourage children in Years 3 & 4 to be bought to school with an adult, if you feel they are able to make the journey safely by themselves, please contact the school office who can discuss arrangements with you.

Do you feel your child needs to be assessed?
If you have had ongoing concerns about your child needing special support in school please see below:
Many parents have made enquiries about referrals for assessment for ADHD or Autism.
Currently, as there is a backlog of assessments, the best and fastest route is to request the 'Right to Choose' pathway with your child's GP.
If you are going to do this please let Mrs Jordan know as some GPs are asking for a letter of support to accept the request. Thank you.
If your child has received a Head Teachers award this week, you are welcome to join us for Celebration Assesmbly on Monday to help them celebrate as they are awarded their certificate. Please arrive at school at 2.40pm ready for assembly to start at 2.45pm

Attendance Champions
BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Year 3 who have achieved 99% attendance this week!!
As a reward for their excellent attendance, they have earned a non-uniform day on Friday 3rd October!
Remember, all classes have the opportunity to earn themselves a non-uniform day - all they need to do is be in school on time, every day!
Expected Attendance
We would like to remind parents that the expected attendance for all pupils is 96%.
We understand that there may be times that children are too unwell to attend, or that there may be an exceptional circumstance that prevents their attendance - however it is important to remember that once children move below 90% attendance, they are considered Persistently Absent.
Children who are persistently absent from school are closely monitored by our attendance team, and in some cases, where attendance does not improve, families can be at risk of a Penalty Notice (fine).
We would like to work with families to improve attendance, and will do everything we can to support parents to get their children into school.
If you have any concerns about your child's attendance, please speak to our attendance team.
The children have been busy bees this week!
They’ve been doing lots of learning through play.
It’s officially Autumn!
The children have been helping to fill the nursery with autumn decorations, scents and creations.
We’ve been painting by shaking conkers in a box with different colours.
Baking through scents in the mud kitchen. It’s full of cinnamon, cloves and vanilla currently.
Going on autumn walks to collect signs of seasonal changes and talking about the change in weather as we complete the daily calendar and weather chart together.
If your child would like to collect conkers, pine cones, leaves of different colours and twigs to bring to nursery for crafts, they may.
In other learning, they used pegs to colour sort Pom poms in water. Some of the children enjoyed it so much that they kept resetting the activity to have another go.
They have also been learning the creation story step by step. We are currently on day 4 (sun, moon and stars) and have been creating lots of crafts and pieces of art to fill our RE display.
They have also been thinking super hard to answer lots of ‘I Wonder’ questions to develop their thoughts and knowledge around God and how we care for the world.
Each day, we are doing a colour monster check in to help the children with emotional regulation. The children use the colour monster teddies to support their regulation by picking one to cuddle when they are a bit mixed up. Most choose the green to help them become calmer. Some choose red because they like the angry impression that we do for the red monster.
The children have settled very well so far and we are super amazed by how wonderfully they play together each day.
Have a restful weekend,
Miss Dale and the Nursery Team
