Have you heard the Wednesday Word?
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
You can keep up to date on the Wednesday Word each week by visiting our dedicated page:
Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday, children across the school took part in a variety of activities for Safer Internet Day. This years theme was 'Too good to be true. Protecting yourself and others from scams online'.
Here are some links to sites that you might find useful should you need to manage online challenges at home. There are lots of great parent guides found here
Water Bottles
At CTK we very much promote the drinking of water throughout the day, and all children are welcome to bring a water bottle into school to stay hydrated. We ask that children avoid bringing in sugary drinks, or other drinks that may be sugar free but have additional additives.
If there is a circumstance where it is not possible for your child to drink water - please contact the school office and further discussions can be had around this issue.
Year 3 & 4 Library Visit
On Tuesday, Years 3 & 4 visited Filwood Library for a special story session with the Black British Ballet Project.
The children were told a story of a trailblazing Black British Ballet Dancer, and even had the opportunity to practice some of their own ballet moves!
Labelling Clothing
Please can we remind parents and carers about the importance of labelling your child's uniform and belongings. We have recently had a number of lost/misplaced jumpers and cardigans at school and it is very difficult to reunite them with their owner if they are not named.
Thank you for your ongoing cooperation with this matter.

Punctuality
Please can we politely remind parents and carers that the school day begins at 8.50am and all children should be in by this time.
We open the doors to school at 8.40am to give children plenty of time to come in and be ready to head to Registration, however we have recently had a number of children arriving once the door have been closed.
Children arriving after this will recieve late mark and those who arrive after 9.20am will recieve an unauthorise mark for the morning session.
Not only will lateness have a negative effect on their attendance, it can also impact their learning as they are often missing important information about the day's lessons.
Breakfast Club is available to all pupils from 8.00am (charged at £1 per day for children R-Y6 and £3 for Nursery) and is a great way to ensure children are in school on time, and ready for the school day.
Expected Attendance
We would like to remind parents that the expected attendance for all pupils is 96%.
We understand that there may be times that children are too unwell to attend, or that there may be an exceptional circumstance that prevents their attendance - however it is important to remember that once children move below 90% attendance, they are considered Persistently Absent.
Children who are persistently absent from school are closely monitored by our attendance team, and in some cases, where attendance does not improve, families can be at risk of a Penalty Notice (fine).
We would like to work with families to improve attendance, and will do everything we can to support parents to get their children into school.
If you have any concerns about your child's attendance, please speak to our attendance team.
Due to the Half Term break, there are no Head Teacher Awards this week.
Here is a reminder of last week's wonderful winners...
