Year 6 SATS - Tuesday 9th - Friday 12th May
Year 6 SATs will take place next week.
A Huge well done to all the Year 6s and the hard work they have put in over the last few weeks. They have all showed us their best effort and concentration. They've all done everything they can and now it's time to show off what they can do.
The timetable for the week is as follows:
Monday 12th May - English grammar, punctuation and spelling (GPS) papers 1 (questions) and 2 (spelling)
Tuesday 13th May - English reading paper
Wednesday 14th May - Mathematics papers 1 (arithmetic) and 2 (reasoning)
Thursday 15th May - Mathematics paper 3 (reasoning)
This is a very important week for our pupils and it is essential that children attend school every day in order to sit their tests. Unless a child is unwell, children not attending school will not be able to sit these assessments, that they have worked so hard to prepare for.
A free breakfast will be available to all children during this week so all children are invited to join us in Breakfast Club from 8am to ensure they are in school on time and have a positive start to the day.
Changes to After School Clubs
As you are aware, we run a variety of after school clubs that are available to children across the school.
We would like to inform parents that from the end of Term 5 (Friday 23rd May) clubs will no longer be running on the final day of each term. This includes Chill Time Klub.
The final day of term is always a busy one for our staff, and by not running clubs on these days, it means they will have time to tie up any loose ends and be prepared to provide the best possible education and support to our children at the start of the following term.
So, for the remainder of the school year, there will be no clubs on the following dates:
Friday 23 May 2025
Friday 18th July 2025
We will keep you updated on any further club changes as they occur.
KS1 Summer Sing
Yesterday, Our Year 1 & 2 pupils took part in an extra special concert at Bristol Beacon. Our pupils joined children from other schools across the city, for a summer sing-along.
It was wonderful to be able to share this experience with the children and they did us proud by behaving brilliantly throughout the event.
Dogs on School Site
Please can we politely remind parents and carers that dogs are not allowed on school grounds. This includes the car park and lane areas.
We have had a number of instances recently where dog mess has been found on areas of the site. As you know, this is a big health and safety issue.
As well as the health and safety of our pupils and staff, we need to prioritise their wellbeing, and many children may be frightened of dogs that are barking, and jumping during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
Please support us in making sure dogs are kept off the school grounds, and that should you bring our dog to the school gates, any mess is cleared up.
Thank you for your ongoing co-operation with this.
Pupil Safety - Walking to School
Like many children their age, lots of children in our Key Stage 2 classes walk themselves to and from school each day.
Whilst this is a great for giving them a sense of independance and responsibility, it's important that we all remember the safety aspect of children travelling alone.
If your child is currently walking without an adult, please take the time to have a discussion with them about how to keep safe. Here are some key questions:
What would happen if you were approached by a stranger?
What would you do if no one was home when they arrived after school?
Do you know how to be safe when crossing the road?
If your child ever has any concerns about something they have seen or heard whilst walking alone, please encourage them to talk to you or a member of school staff so we can all work together to keep them safe.
Please be reminded that whislt we highly encourage children in Years 3 & 4 to be bought to school with an adult, if you feel they are able to make the journey safely by themselves, we require written consent to allow this to happen. A permission form can be obtained from the school office.
If your child has received a Head Teachers award this week, you are welcome to join us for Celebration Assesmbly on Monday to help them celebrate as they are awarded their certificate. Please arrive at school at 2.40pm ready for assembly to start at 2.45pm

The week has been quite short, like this newsletter as our focus for the children has been on developing their friendships, and seeing how everyone plays.
They have been playing lots throughout the entirety of the nursery and exploring all the areas and toys we have available for them, and coming up with some creative uses for the equipment.
The children have also been doing lots of planting to help brighten up our outside area. Each day, a group of children have been able to go and spray the sprouting flowers with water and take care of them. They cannot wait to see what colour flowers grow in their various pots!
On Wednesday afternoon, the children were given a surprise gift of a...BOX!
For us, it may be something to be recycled, for them its an adventure. They turned it into a car, plane, train, boat and even a coffin (for vampires). Their imaginations know no bounds and it is awe inspiring to witness.
We have been doing lots of work on recognising 1 or 3 in various forms. For this we do a mixture of sorting activities, singing songs such as 5 monkeys jumping on the bed, and small groups. The children are really good at supporting each other in their learning. We also watch a lot of numberblocks to help everyone learn in different ways.
Special shout out to Filip, who found subitising 1 and 2 tricky, but now is the first to recognise and subitise all numbers to 5 with confidence and speed.
Amazing work Filip, well done!!
Have a lovely, restful weekend!

Filwood in Motion
Filwood in Motion is a year long artist residency taking place on Filwood Broadway. Over the course of this year, artists will be organising events, workshops, meals and art installations alongside the community.
As part of this, the artists are producing a Podcast called 'Writ Large,' which interviews members of the community.
Mr Condon was lucky enough to be part of the second episode of the podcast, and now has a very flattering picture of himself on a billboard on Filwood Broadway!
Mr Condon was interviewed by the artists alongside Nick from Aftermath Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and you can hear their full conversation at https://filwood-in-motion.com/ or check out the billboard for their 'best bits' about the community!
