Year 3 - Resourceful Romans!
On Tuesday, Year 3 had a brilliant trip to the National Roman Legion Museum in Caerleon. The class were so well behaved and had a wonderful time exploring the museum, barracks and Roman baths.
They spent the morning being gladiators with shields and soldiers with swords! It was a fantastic day and it was wonderful being able to enrich the topic for the children.
Year 6 Leavers' Celebrations
Next week will see the final few days for our Year 6 children.
We've got a number of things going on to see them off in style...
Year 6 Leavers' Mass @ Church of Christ the King
Monday 20th July - 9.30am - All Welcome
Year 6 Leavers' Assembly
Wednesday 22nd July - 1.30pm - Year 6 families only
(Please be aware that parents will NOT be able take children directly after assembly)
We're looking forward to giving our children the best possible send off as they start their journey into secondary school.
Pick Up Arrangements
Please can we politely remind parents that when picking up at the end of the school day, if collecting from the car park, it's important that all parents wait behind the painted lines. This saves on distractions and allows staff to ensure children are going with the correct adults.
If you need to speak with your child's class teacher, please wait until all children have been dismissed or alternatively speak with the school office and staff will be happy to arrange a time for you to meet.
Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
Free School Meals
Earlier this week, a letter was sent home to all parents regarding the upcoming changes to Free School Meals eligibility.
From September, all families in receipt of universal credit will be entitled to Free School Meals for their children - which means many more of our families will be able to benefit from this.
To apply for Free School Meals ready for the new school year, visit https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/schools-learning-and-early-years/travel-and-free-school-meals/free-school-meals
Alternatively, speak to the school office who can provide you with a paper copy of the application form to complete.
School Books
As we head into the final few days of the school year, please can we ask that all school books (phonics, reading and library books) are returned to school.
National Read-Aloud Challenge 2026
Throughout the challenge, children engage in independent. reading using Fonetti, the reading platform.
The goal is to enhance reading skills during the summer break, aiming to prevent the typical ‘summer slump’ while fostering a genuine passion for reading. During the challenge period, you will receive weekly updates on the children's reading progress.
They will earn certificates for reaching the various milestones and have the opportunity to compete on national leaderboards alongside children both locally and nationally.
All you need to do is set up profiles using our school's custom URL or by scanning the QR code below and your child(ren) will be ready to take part in this exciting challenge.
During the challenge, our pupils will join the school team aiming to read as many books as possible. This could win our school a FREE trip to London for an awards ceremony hosted by Fonetti's brand ambassador Clare Balding CBE. Two teachers and the top two pupils will attend. We look forward to your child(ren) enjoying great books; watch your emails for updates on their progress. Happy reading!
Upcoming Club Changes
Please be aware of the following upcoming changes to our after school club provision:
All Clubs:
There will be NO CLUBS RUNNING during the final few days of the school year. This includes Chill Time Klub.
All children will need to be collected at 3.20pm from Monday 20th July - Wednesday 22nd July.
If your child has received a Head Teachers award this week, you are welcome to join us for Celebration Assesmbly on Monday to help them celebrate as they are awarded their certificate. Please arrive at school at 2.40pm ready for assembly to start at 2.45pm
We would like to say a HUGE congratulations to the following children for achieving 100% attendance this school year. They have not missed a single day of school since September and as a result will receive a special reward in Monday's Celebration Assembly...
We would also like to give a special mention to the following children who achieved 99% attendance this year - meaning they missed 1 day of school at the most! A fantastic achievement!
