Mini Market Fun!
Last Friday, our Year 6 class took the reins and ran the school's annual Mini Market.
They had all worked hard to create games, activities and stalls to share with children across the school.
The Mini Market was a resounding success and we would like to thank everyone who supported them by sending their children in with spending money.
As always, all the money raised will go towards the London visit that our new Year 6 class will take in November.
Year 6 Leavers' Mass
Our Year 6 class recently travelled to Clifton Cathedral to take part in their first offical leavers event.
They were joined by Bishop Bosco Macdonald and children from Catholic schools across the city for a special celebration.
The children were lucky enough to be part of the offical choir this year. They sand beautifully during the service and we are all incredibly proud of them for all of their hard work leading up to the event!
School in a Bag
Earlier this year, you may remember thatwe ran lots of special events as part of our Lenten Fundraising.
One of the charities we were supporting with this fundraising was School in a Bag, a charity that works with disadvantaged children around the world, providing them with essential school supplies.
On Monday, we were visited by the School in a Bag Team for a special assembly and the children had the opportunity to see the children all their donations had supported.
It was wonderful for the children to be able to see their hard fundraising work really making a difference to the lives of other people and we are proud to be able to support such worthy causes each year.
Upcoming Club Changes
Please be aware of the following upcoming changes to our after school club provision:
Gardening Club:
Please be aware that Gardening Club has now finished and there will be no further sessions this term.
All Clubs:
There will be NO CLUBS RUNNING during the final few days of the school year. This includes Chill Time Klub.
All children will need to be collected at 3.20pm from Monday 20th July - Wednesday 22nd July.
School Attendance
We have seen some real improvement in our attendance figures over the past few terms, and whilst there's always room for improvement, we would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to our parents, carers and families for working so hard to make sure their children are in school - and for working with us when there has been cause for concern.
Children's individual attendance certificates will be coming home with their academic reports next week - if you have any concerns or questions about your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our attendance team who are always happy to support families.
Thanks again for your ongoing co-operation and helping us to raise attendance across the school.
Summer Savings
With the summer holidays quickly approaching, it's likely that you're already making plans for how to keep busy over the break...and how to NOT break the bank whilst doing it!
The DfE have recently shared with us a fantastic tool for families to use as part of the Governments 'Great Summer Savings Scheme.'
The scheme aims to support families with the rising costs of staying occupied this summer by cutting the VAT on children's meals out, family attraction tickets, cinema tickets etc.
To help you find out what's on, and what savings you could make, they've created https://summersavings.gov.uk/!
This scheme, along with the free bus travel thats available to children throughout the summer, should make it much easier for families to be getting out and about and having fun!
Ongoing Hot Weather
With the weather continuing to be hot and sunny, please can we politely remind parents to be sending their children to school dressed appropraitely for the day - and to make sure they are bringing hats in with them, and wearing suncream.
We know that lots of parents have had concerns about sending their children in when it's very hot, but please rest assured that we are working hard to keep children cool and safe during the school day.
We are aware that some other schools have made the decision to close this week, and whilst it has been very hot, there has not been any specific 'risk to life' weather warnings this week as there were previously, and we will always endeavor to stay open and work in line with the advice and information provided to us by both the MET Office and Local Authority.
Summer Reading Challenge 2026
We’re excited to share with you that the theme for the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge is Read to the Beat. The Challenge will celebrate the joy of music and the power it has to move, inspire, and connect us – all through the magic of reading. The Challenge is being brought to life with illustrations by award-winning author and illustrator, Harry Woodgate.
The annual Challenge is delivered in partnership with public libraries, and it’s free to take part. From June to September, children taking part can discover new stories and explore the magic of music.
How to take part
Children can join at any Bristol library from Saturday 4th July – Saturday 5 September.
To take part in the library, simply pick up a free folder, collect stickers and then read at least 6 library books. At the end the reward is a brilliant Summer Reading Challenge medal & certificate!
Children & families can also take part online.
To take part online go to summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/ where children create their own profile with the assistance of an adult. Children are encouraged to read library books, digital eBooks and listen to eAudio books. With fun digital activities, digital badges & a downloadable certificate when they finish.
