Boys Football Success
Monday saw the first of the football tournaments that our Year 5 & 6 boys will be taking part in over the next few weeks and what a fantastic start they had!
A big well done to Alfie, Jenson, Daiquari, Clay, Rocco and Tyron who played amazingly, winning 5 out of 5 games!!
Big thanks also to the parents and siblings who turned up to support the boys, and a special mention to Romeo who served as a great team mascot throughout the games!!
Corridor Monitors
Please join us in welcoming our brand new 'Corridor Monitors' to their roles.
The role of Corridor Monitors is to support, guide, and act as role models to other pupils during wet play times - and they've been doing a fantastic job so far!
Sunday Masses
A big thank you to all of our families who attended the first Sunday Mass of the year last weekend.
Father Michael Healy was delighted to see so many of our pupils and families at Church.
A reminder that Sunday mass at Christ the King Church now takes place at 9.00am and all are welcome to come along
School Nurse Coffee Morning
Next week, our School Nurse, Lianne will be joining us for Coffee Morning.
Lianne will be available to talk to parents about low level concerns they may have about their child, and will be able to offer advice and signpost to other services.
Coffee Morning runs every Friday at 9.00am and all parents and carers are welcome to join us.
Parking Issues
It is with great disappointment we have to once again remind parents about inappropriate parking outside of the school.
Despite numerous reminders, we still have parents parking on zig-zag lines, mounting kerbs, and stopping dangerously in the road.
This is is an ongoing and serious concern, and we cannot stress enough how dangerous parking & stopping in this way is.
There is ample space, both on Filwood Broadway and in the streets surrounding school, where parents can safely park and walk children in to school.
We would also like to ask that parents do not try to U-turn in the road outside of school during drop-off and pick-up times - this type of manoeuver causes significat traffic to back up around the school area, which can be dangerous that these times of the day.
Please be aware that should you be caught parking or stopping in a dangerous manner, your details may be passed to our local policing team.
We hope that going forward, we will have to issue less of these reminders, and parents will continue to support us in keeping our children, and all pedestrians safe outside of our school.
Two weeks into the new term and we have had lots of changes in the nursery.
We are currently in the settling in phase for 5 new children, who have all proved to be wonderful new additions and really got to grips with their new class.
Each child had a wobble to start but have since shown how well they are settling and shown some good choices with their sharing, listening and making friends.
Amazing work by all our new children.
This week we have had bucket time three times, in which some reception and Year 1 children join us. Bucket time is to support attention building, language development and learning across different areas in a highly engaging and motivating session.
The nursery children get super excited every time the chairs come out and Miss Dale starts the session. They are currently on Stage 3 in which the children start to take turns for an activity.
They are learning that sometimes they don't have a turn and how to understand their emotions surrounding the situation.
We have also been doing lots of learning around the gifts given to Jesus by the Wise Men.
The children all know the three gifts by name and having been using their knowledge of younger siblings and role play games to discuss gifts we could give to newborn babies today.
They have also been singing lots of songs within RE.
Our God is a Great Big God
This Little Light of Mine
My Lighthouse
Father Abraham - Currently learning
All the songs have actions and the children love to be involved and sing loudly whilst dancing around. They are little superstars.
Lastly, each day we give out stickers from our Catholic Social Teaching.
We give them out for good tidying of the classroom, supporting each other to work towards a common goal, helping people when they find something tricky, looking after the animals/ insects they find in their environment (Shelly the Snail, worms in the garden) and other various things. The children are always told why they are getting the sticker they have too so they know what good choice they made.
We hope you have a restful weekend a head of another exciting week next week!
Miss Dale and the Nursery Team
