Year 3 & 4 Football
This Monday saw the start of the Year 3/4 football tournaments.
It was a fun-filled opening round of matches, played in fantastic spirit by all the children involved!
Highlights included:
David’s Spider-Man reflexes in goal!
Ripley’s mid-match comment of, ‘I have got my confidence now!’
Darcy’s hatrick in the final game infront of all our supportive parents and siblings! The cheering was incredible!
Mr Prichard and Mrs Sims felt very proud of such a wonderful team.
The tournaments continue straight after half-term and we will aim to give as many children as possible the opportunity to play.
First Holy Communion 2026
If your child is in Year 3 or above, and you wish for them to make their First Holy Communion in 2026, there is still time to register.
You can collect the forms from Mrs Triggs at Christ the King Church during Sunday Mass, or you can pop into school and speak with Mrs Miller.
The preparation programme will start in March, with the offical Holy Communion ceremony taking place on Sunday 21st June.
Lenten Fundraising
It's that time of year again, and when we return from the half term break, we will begin our fundraising for Lent.
This year, we will be raising money for School in a Bag and Cafod. One of our fundraising weeks will also be used for a food collection for The Matthew Tree Project.
We will kick things off on Friday 27th February...
We aim to run a different activity each week until the end of Term, ending with our famous Easter Egg Raffle (tickets will go on sale after half term)
More exciting plans coming soon...
Earrings Update
Earlier this week, we shared an update with parents regarding the rules around wearing earrings to school. The full update can be found here, but please take note again of the following important information...
It remains school policy that children should not be wearing hooped or dangling earrings under any circumstances. These types of earrings are a health and safety risk. Children are welcome to wear one pair of stud earrings. Studs should be small and plain, and should not have any additional embellishments. We greatly appreciate the support of all parents who enable their child to comply with this policy request.
Where a child wears earrings that do not comply with school policy, we will not be taking any further action other than in PE lessons where such earrings do create a risk. In these circumstances children will be asked to remove and be responsible for their earrings.
If children are unable or unwilling to remove their earrings, then staff will not intervene. We are however saying that in these circumstances children will be unable to join in PE lessons until they wear appropriate earrings, are able to remove them or do not wear earring into school on this day. If this happens we will remind parents via text.
We woule like to thank the majority of parents who have supported us with this matter.
Poster Competition - World Book Day
In the lead up to our World Book Day celebrations, Miss Garrett will be running a competition for children to design a Non-Fiction Poster...
The competition is open to all children and there are some fantastic prizes to be won!
Behaviour
Here at CTK, we're proud that the behaviour of our pupils is generally great and visitors to our school regularly comment on how calm and positive the environment is.
Unfortunately, there are occassions where we have to deal with challenging behaviour, and we do this following our school behaviour policy, working together with parents to resolve any issues.
We like to work closely with parents to support behaviour both in and out of school and with this in mind, if a child has been sent to a member of the School Leadership Team due to poor behaviour, parents will be informed of this via text message.
Please also be assured that staff continue to communicate verbally with parents when there has been a behaviour concern - and parents are welcome to contact us should they have any concerns of their own - these texts and letters will be an additional tool to keep everyone informed.
If you would like more information on how we deal with behaviour at school, you can view the full policy here
We hope that incidents resulting in these messages will be few, however than you in advance for working with us to support positive behaviour at our school.
It has been a very busy and rewarding last week of term.
On Monday the children had the chance to explore vegetables both in the water tray and outside mud kitchen. They had lots of questions about what the vegetables were, why the carrots had green tops and what could they make.
They loved chopping and breaking the veg, mixing it with the rice and water from the drain pipes, along with sharing it amongst each other to make many different dishes.
On Tuesday, the children learned of makng good choices whilst online, such as not sending unkind photos of people, using their kind words and not telling people their name or where they live.
Subsequent conversations stemming from this learning has led the children to disclosing that they have online friends they have not met. Please be aware of the dangers of online chat rooms and the lack of understanding your children may have around 'online friends'.
Please refer to these links if you need further support in keeping your children safe online.

Wednesday's PE lesson involved the children first playing the spot game which is similar to musical statues but when the music stops, the must find a spot. They play this game to support their learning of being out or losing.
Afterwards they were tasked with crawling through the chairs without breaking the tape. They found the first one easy as they had to move on their hands and knees with lots of room to spare.
The second task was not so easy. They had to be on their bellies like a slug. Some children found this super tricky, others found it easier. They had to use their whole body to move and focus on their balancing skills.
It was great fun to watch.
The children have had a long term. New children have joined and settled well, they have all had lots of work to do and they have shown fantastic development across all areas of the curriculum. They have lots of fun every day and show off their learning in many different ways.
We hope you have a restful week off and get your energy levels back ahead of next term.
Next term is our Lent fundraising term and each Friday will have a different fundraising theme - more details to be shared soon.
Have an enjoyable half term,
Miss Dale and the Nursery Team
As well as Headteachers awards, and reward in class, children at CTK can also earn 'leaves' for demonstrating our Gospel Values outside of the classroom. These leaves are added to the Tree in our foyer, which grows more and more throughout the school year...
Ash Wednesday
This year, Ash Wednesday falls during the half term week. We are hoping to have a Mass/Service when we return to school in Term 4, so please keep an eye out for details.
The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
Ten:Ten Faith Newsletter - February
The Ten:Ten monthly parent newsletter gives you an overview of the content children will experience in school throughout the month and suggestions of ways for you to engage with them about it at home.
