Welcome Back
Welcome back to a brand new year at CTK!
We've had a very exciting start to the school year, with lots going on around the school. Years 5 & 6 headed straight off to Deanfield for their residential camp and we were joined by our new reception class children for their first official morning with us!
Despite the excitement, our first week has been incredibly calm and positive, and it's been lovely to see all the children return happy and eager to learn.
We're already looking forward to the wonderful things to come this school year and can't wait to share them with you!
Big Thank You!
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to our Cleaning and Caretaking team!
Whilst we were off enjoying our summer break, they were working hard behind the scenes to make sure our school was ready to open this week!
They work incredibly hard throughout the year, and whilst we don't always see their hard work, their efforts are very much appreciated.
We hope you'll join us in thanking Mrs Harvey, Miss Trimnell, Mrs Pearce and Mr Coyne for everything they do!
Information Updates
A polite reminder, that if any of your contact information has changed over the summer holidays, it's important that you provide these details to the school office so we can update your records. This includes any change of address or updates in medical information.
Thank you for your ongoing co-operation with this.
Year 5 and 6 Camp
Our Year 5s and 6s have kicked off their school year with a residential visit to Deanfield Study Centre this week.
The children spent 3 days taking part in activities such as canoeing, zip-lining and circus skills and getting to know their new teachers and TAs outside of their normal classroom environment.
All the children were impecibly behaved and were an absolute credit to us - we couldn't be prouder!
We love running camps for our pupils - it's a fantastic way to get to know our children and allow them to develop their independence and skills outside of the normal school day, but we couldn't provide adventures like this without the support of our staff.
Our dedicated team give up their own time to support our children with these events, and we're eternally grateful for all the hard work they all put it to give the children the best time possible! Thanks Team CTK!!
Start of Year Mass
Next week we will be holding our first Mass of the year at Christ the King Church.
All parents, carers and family members are welcome to join at 9.30am on Thursday 11th September to celebrate coming back together as a school and church community.
School Clubs
We are currently in the process of planning our After School Club provision and look forward to sharing news of this with you next week.
In the meantime, Chill Time Klub will be back up and running on Monday 8th September for all children.
Breakfast Club continues to run from 8am each day, and all children are welcome to join us.
Please be reminded that all clubs, must be booked through the Arbor App. If you have any questions about booking sessions, or any aspect of the app, please speak to Miss Morse in the school office.
Parent 'Meet the Teacher' Meetings
Over the coming weeks, we will be offering parents the opportunity to pop in for an informal 'meet and greet' with their child's new teacher.
We are hoping to have both morning and afternoon sessions available, so please keep an eye out for more details
Uniform Reminders
Please can we politely remind parents and carers of the expectations around school uniform;
Children should be coming into school in full uniform each day. This includes footwear - shoes/trainers should be all black.
Children should not be wearing hoop or dangling earrings to schools. If children wish to wear earrings these should be one small pair of studs only.
If you would like further information about our school uniform please click here
Please also be reminded that all children should have a book bag, or a backpack bring enough to carry reading books. It's really important children have something to carry their books in so they're not damaged between school and home.
We would also like to ask that children do not carry their books and water bottles in the same bag to avoid books being damaged by leakages!
Welcome back to a new school year and thank you to all those families who are already working hard to ensure their children are in school, on time, every day!
Please be aware of the following reminders:
Early Collections
If you need to collect your child before the end of the school day, this MUST be arranged prior to collection. You will also be asked for evidence of any appointments - without providing this, the absence will be marked as unauthorised which will effect your child's overall attendance.
Lateness
Doors are open for children to come in to school from 8.40am and children should be in school ready for registration by 8.50am.
Children arriving after 9.00am will recieve late mark and those who arrive after 9.20am will recieve an unauthorised mark for the morning session. Multiple occurances of lateness can have a negative effect on your child's overall attendance and in some cases may result in a penalty notice (fine).
Breakfast Club is available to all pupils from 8.00am (charged at £1 per day for children R-Y6 and £3 for Nursery) and is a great way to ensure children are in school on time, and ready for the school day.
Attendance Rewards
As always, we will be promoting GREAT ATTENDANCE this school year!
As well as individual rewards for 100% attendance each term, children will also have the chance to earn a non-uniform day each week if their class achieves above 98% attendance as a team!
We hope to see some fantastic attendance over the coming weeks and months and thank parents for continuing to support us with this!
