SS Great Britain
Year 2 had a fabulous time at the SS Great Britain last week. They had great fun exploring the museum and ship to learn all about Brunel.
The children are very excited to have received 'golden tickets' which means that they can visit the SS Great Britain with their families for free!
Amazing Achievements
Many of our children take part in activities outside of school, and we love being able to share news with you when these activities bring forth fantastic achievements!
Lilliana, Year 2, has been taking part in gymnastics sessions for the last year and is a natural talent! She works incredibly hard during her training sessions and has taken part in 3 competitions, including one at regional level!
Lilliana has won many certificates as well as bronze and gold medals in both Vault and Floor disciplines.
As a result of her hard work and talent, Lilliana has been invited to join the youth development squad, which means she will train with specialist coaches. These squads are where young gymnasts from the NATIONAL team are chosen...so we may very well have a future olympic champion in our midst!!
We are incredibly proud of Lilliana and all she is achieving and we hope you join us in wishing her the best of luck in her ongoing journey!
CTK Pride
Last week Mr Condon attended the Bristol Primary Headteachers Conference in Chepstow.
He could not have been more proud when an ex-pupil Darrius Merren stepped up to give a talk to the big group of Headteachers and other leaders in Educatuin about the Bristol Youth Council and youth perspective on belonging, opportunity and collaboration.
Everybody that Mr Condon spoke to said that Darrius' input was the highlight of the conference and he spoke with confidence , great thought and shared the youth's vision for the future of Bristol. Well done Darrius!
Seeing pupils continue to achieve, and having such an impact on the world once they leave CTK fills us with such pride, and we look forward to seeing many more of our pupils sharing their bright ideas, and being their best selves out in the wide world once their time with us is finished!

Attendance - Persistent Absence
We are currently reviewing pupil absence, and would like to let parents know that if your child's attendance is under 90%, this is considered persistent absence and you may be invited in to a meeting with our Attendance Team.
Good attendance is considered anything over 96%, and when attendance falls under this it can begin to have a serious impact on a child's education.
Please be aware that lateness can also have an impact on your child's overall attendance, so please ensure that children are arriving on time every day - being just 5 minutes late every day loses 3 days of learning time throughout the year!
How nice that the sun has made a proper appearance!
Due to the rising temperature, we have finally managed to get the sand out, much to the children's delight.
They have used it to cook and create within the mud kitchen every single day!
They are also enjoying the new layout and using the bigger kitchen furniture similaly to restaurant set up. Their budding language throughout their play within the mud kitchen has shown an extension in their vocabulary, something we LOVE to hear!
In PE, he children used varying jumps, hand-eye coordination, balancing and crawls to complete a circuit. They all absolutely smashed it and kept at the circuit throughout the day, even recreating it in the afternoon to re-do! Some found a couple of the components to be tricky but used their problem solving skills to work out how they could complete it differently.
Everyone absolutely smashed it!
For the rest of the week, the children have had more freedom of space for creativity! They have wanted to practise the number and letter formation, face their fears in varying forms and explore their imaginative play. We have had teachers, frogs, superheros, demons, dinosaurs and all sorts running around the nursery. I am sure that if you were to walk past during the day, you would hear an extreme variety of noises, words and conversations had.
The children have been absolutely smashing their learning and are eager to learn more as ever.
We have started have conversations around transitions to reception and what changes may occur in September. The children are certainly looking forward to some of the changes, though a few of them do think that having lunch in the hall would be 'too loud and too smelly'. We reassured them that lunch in the hall would be fun, just like it was for the Christmas dinner.
We hope you have a lovely restful and sunny weekend,
Miss Dale and the Nursery Team
The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
Ten:Ten Faith Newsletter - March
The Ten:Ten monthly parent newsletter gives you an overview of the content children will experience in school throughout the month and suggestions of ways for you to engage with them about it at home.
If your child has received a Head Teachers award this week, you are welcome to join us for Celebration Assesmbly on Monday to help them celebrate as they are awarded their certificate. Please arrive at school at 2.40pm ready for assembly to start at 2.45pm

It's been another fantastic Friday of Fundraising!
The weather was definitely on our side today, as all of the children headed to the playground to take part in a whole school sports festival!
The children had great fun moving around the different sporting stations - competing against other classes for the most points!
Once the event had ended - Miss Dale really needed to cool down after all the running around...Mr Condon was happy to help!!!
