A Generous Donation
On Thursday we were visited by Dan from the Bristol City Robins Foundation who kindly delivered some brand new football kits to our girls football team...
This was a really generous donation from the Foundation, and the girls are really looking forward to showing off their new kits at their next tournament!
We would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the parents who noticed the girls were without kits, and offered to buy them for the school. We really appreciate having such a generous school community who are willing to help and support our pupils.
Earrings
Following our notice in last weeks newsletter, we would like to say a big thank you to the vast majority of our families who have ensured their children are coming in to school wearing only small stud earrings.
We have a small number of children who are still coming in wearing earrings that are inappropraite for school, so we would like to make parents aware that we are now seeking further health and safety guidance to support us with this.
Thank you for your ongoing support with this matter.
Breakfast Club
Please can we take this opportunity to remind parents and carers that children should not be bringing their own food into Breakfast Club on a morning.
We currently have children at school with a number of allergies, and the food provided at Breakfast Club has been chosen specifically to suit all children and their needs. If children are bringing in food from outside, it could contain certain ingredients that pose a health and safety issue to other children to attend.
There are lots of food options available each morning, so children should not need to bring anything additional with them.
Thank you for your co-operation with this issue.
Headlice
Please be aware we have had reports of headlice in some classes across the school.
If you notice that your child has head lice, please treat accordingly to avoid them spreading.
Whilst head lice are not dangerous, they can cause serious itching which can be a distraction and are not very pleasant.
For more information on head lice and how to treat them visit https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice-and-nits/
New After School Club
Thursday's Move & Groove has now been replaced by Multi-Sports.
Multi-sports is a fantastic opportunity for children in Years 1 & 2 to try out lots of different sports activities and games and the best part is, it's completely FREE!
If your child is interested in signing up, please book via the Arbor App or speak to Miss Morse in the school office.
With the closure on Monday, it’s been a shorter week for the children, but a jam packed one nonetheless!
Tuesday started with bucket time.
The children sat beautifully for the bucket toys, enjoyed watching Miss Dale get mucky making bread and then took turns to fish the pipe cleaner fish. Their bucket time was in conjunction with their learning of Feeding the 5000.
Wednesdays maths lesson had the children ordering numbers to 10 by selecting the correct piece of numicon.
Some children found this a little tricky but they were helped by their friends to find the right piece. They also enjoyed singing Count Back Cat from 10 to support their learning of number order.
The nursery children also furthered their learning with shapes. Miss Dale put various shapes in the circle. One by one they were described by their properties and the children had to find the shape. They all did super well with this game and were able to help describe the shapes in terms of colour and size when they had a turn in charge.
At the end of each session, before lunch and at the end by of the day, stickers are given out to the children for good choices they have made. They are given in relation to our Catholic Social Teaching themes and each child is told why they are having a sticker. They have all been making excellent progress and are showing how kind they are to each other on a daily basis.
We hope you have a restful weekend,
Miss Dale and the Nursery Team

Absences for Illness
As is usual for this time of year, with the cold weather comes germs and we have been made aware that cases of both sickness bugs and flu have been high across the whole city.
We recommend looking at the following guidance if you are unsure about whether your child is well enough to come in to school: Should I keep my child off school?
Please be reminded that school always has a stock of Calpol, and can administer medication to pupils should they feel a little under the weather. Minor colds and coughs are normal childhood illnesses and should not be reasons to keep children away from school.
Please also be reminded that whilst children are welcome at school with minor illnesses, we cannot have them in school if they have suffered sickness or diarrhoea. Children should stay off of school and not return until there has been 48 hours since the last episode of illness.
There may be circumstances that we ask for medical evidence in order for us to authorise your child's absence - this may happen if the absence is for an extended period of time, or if there is a pattern of repeated illness, or if their attendance is below 92% due to other absences. If medical evidence is not provided, this may be recorded as an unauthorised absence which may result in a penalty notice (fine)
The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
Ten:Ten Faith Newsletter - January
The Ten:Ten monthly parent newsletter gives you an overview of the content children will experience in school throughout the month and suggestions of ways for you to engage with them about it at home.
