Lent Fundraising & World Book
On Friday 6th March we will be continuing our Lent collections, as well as celebrating World Book Day.
Children are welcome to come in to school dressed as a book character, or in their PJs.
Instead of a monetary donation, this week we will be asking for donations of tins and packets for the food bank at The Matthew Tree Project.
Catholic Inspection Report 2026
At the end of last term the school was visited by inspectors looking at Religious Education and the Catholic life of the school. Overall Effectiveness of the school was judged to be Good although all aspects of Catholic Life and Mission were judged to be Outstanding. Well done to all involved in the school community for achieving this very positive result.
There are many highlights in the report, but here are a selection:
Christ the King School is exceptional in its welcome, inclusivity and relationships.
Pupils have a deep understanding of their own, and others’, worth. As a result, they know they are valued, loved and cared for as unique individuals.
Leaders and staff have a deep understanding of their community and build strong, trusting relationships with their families. The school shows an explicit and concrete commitment to the most vulnerable pupils and their families which is demonstrated through the exceptional pastoral care.
Pupils speak with pride about belonging to this joyful, welcoming and supportive ‘family’; confidently articulating how the mission statement, “Following in the footsteps of Christ, being the best we can be,” shapes their attitudes, relationships and daily choices.
They demonstrate a secure understanding of their God‑given worth; knowing they are valued, loved and cared for as unique individuals. This enables them to flourish as happy, confident and safe learners. Pupils behave very well and show respect for others.
Pupils show a deep respect for those of other faiths and none.
The pupil chaplaincy team is highly valued; they speak confidently about their role, including their leadership in the Jubilee Year of Hope pilgrimage. They feel they genuinely make a difference to the school and wider community.
There is a strong and tangible sense of community within the school, rooted in the belief that Christ is at its centre. This is clearly reflected in leaders’ decision‑making and the daily practice of all staff. They embrace the mission statement wholeheartedly and model it through their supportive, respectful and nurturing relationships with pupils and families.
Staff describe themselves as a close‑knit team who work collaboratively, supporting one another and striving to be “a living example of mission in practice.” Pupils are placed firmly at the heart of the school’s work. Staff know each child as an individual and respond sensitively to the needs of pupils and their families.
Pastoral care is exemplary. Leaders and staff build strong, trusting relationships with families, supported by a highly effective inclusion team, including a skilled learning mentor. The school’s nursery provision enables positive relationships to be established from the earliest stage.
Leaders and governors demonstrate a genuine commitment to nurturing strong relationships with parents, carers and the parish.
Strong links with the parish are cherished, and the school has celebrated with gratitude the life and friendship of their much‑loved former parish priest, who died recently, while also building positive relationships with the new priests now serving the community. The school is deeply committed to involving parents and parishioners in its prayer life, and is warmly embraced by the wider community.
We thank you all for your continued support and you can see the full report here

Upcoming Menu Change
On Thursday 5th March, there will be a special World Book Day themed menu for lunch...
First week into Term 4 and we have FINALLY been able to go into the garden!
The slightly warmer weather has allowed the children to explore the climbing wall, climbing frame and various other bits of equipment we have out there. For some children, this was their first experiences of the garden we have at the nursery.
In their RE learning, the children have been doing all about Ramadan. This is in preparation for Miss Habiba to arrive today. Miss Dale taught the children the basis of Ramadan, explaining how Muslim's do not eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset for 30 days. They pray to Allah, and do not have Jesus like Catholics. The children created decorations like fans with the moon and stars on, designed hands like Mehndi and coloured various different picturces that are related to Islam.
When Miss Habiba came in, the children told her about their learning, showed her the pictures they had drawn. One child was particularly proud of her picture of Miss Habiba in her Hijab, she even explained how Miss Habiba uses magnets to keep her hijab in place and it covers her hair.
The rest of the week the children used their growing phonic awareness to recognise sounds in each others names, used their carpet sessions to put the maths learning of more and less into practise and even showed off their imaginations through their story making in play.
It has been a quick but packed first week back and the children have come w=back with a strong eagerness for learning and growing.
We may only have six weeks for this term but it will be packed with fun and learning.
We hope you all have a restful weekend,
Miss Dale and the nursery Team

The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
