Mini Market Fun!
Today, our Year 6 class took the reins and ran the school's annual Mini Market.
They had been working long and hard to create games, activities and stalls to share with children across the school.
The Mini Market was a resounding success and we would like to thank everyone who supported them by sending their children in with spending money. A great time was had by all the children (and the staff!!)
Goodbye & Good Luck
At the end of the school year, we will be saying goodbye to Miss Kendall.
Miss Kendall joined us in September to teach our Year 4 class, and has been a wonderful addition to the CTK team!
Both children and staff will be sad to see her go, but it's time for her to start her next adventure at another primary school across the city and we hope you'll join us in wishing her all the best on the next part of her teaching journey.
Upcoming Club Changes
Tuesday 15th July - NO CHILL OR GARDENING CLUB
Ball skills will run as normal on this day, however all children will need to be collected at 4.00pm
September 2025 Staffing
We have had lots of families ask in recent weeks who will be teaching their child for the next school year.
Our Senior Leadership Team have been working hard to plan staffing for next year, and we put lots of effort into this to ensure that staff are placed in a way that best supports your children and their needs. With this in mind, we are not able to share the plans with you yet, but please rest assured, information will be shared with you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued patience regarding this matter.
Feast of St Peter and Paul - Mass
On Tuesday 1st July, we will be holding a Mass to celebrate the Feat of St Peter & Paul.
The Mass will be held at Christ the King Church at 9.30am and all families are welcome to join us.
Head Teachers Awards
There are no Head Teachers awards this week due to Monday's Inset Day.
Dazzling Dancers
We love sharing the things our pupils achieve during their time in school, but sometimes our children have brilliant successes outside of school that are just too good not to share...
At the beginning of June, Ivy travelled to Birmingham with her dance group to take part in the 'Legacy Dance International Championships.'
Ivy and her team came 3rd in the Hip-Hop category for their age group, beating 4 other teams!
Last weekend, Lyla travelled to Bournemouth to take part in the 'Future Cheer National Champtionships'
Lyla's team WON the Hip-Hop & Lyrical Category of the competition, making them UK National Champions!
We are incredibly proud of both girls and wish them every succecss as they continue to conquer the dance world!
The children have been amazing this week. They have been doing lots of crafting, creating and making.
Monday had the children making explorer hats and learning the noises of different wild animals for international rainforest day. Some of the animals were super tricky, but the children tried really hard with their guesses.
Within RE this week, the children have learnt two stories:
Jesus walks on water - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U69Ag6wEyB0
The Lost Sheep - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ry2MaMyvGo&list=PL5aPdmniG3y_n7hXEKTV4qQnIeCe-p6Ws&index=112
They have also been learning the song, My Lighthouse, with a few actions too.
The children have amazed us with their knowledge and memories of the RE learning from earlier this term and previous terms too. They will have lots of stories to tell about God, Jesus and other religions too when they go into their reception classes.
Tuesday saw the children practising with watercolour paints. Some did savannah sunset scenes, others did Jesus walking on water scenes. Their finished pieces were brilliant. They furthered their learning with independant work at the making table. They painted princesses, spiderman and rainbows throughout the past few days, using the skills they learnt in their focus groups.
Wednesday PE was circuits, with a twist. Some children did the outside circuits and used their full bodies to work out. Other children used their hands and brains to create a healthy salad. The practised chopping skills with cucumber. Ripping skills with peppers and lettuce, and tasting skills with every salad vegetable they were given. They even learned how to remove the head of a lettuce without chopping it too. The little chefs really enjoyed their experience.
Thursday gave the children a chance to practise their blending skills. Miss Dale stretched words and the children pushed the sounds together.
d-o-g = dog
c-oa-t = coat
m-a-n = man
They use these skills in their phonics learning in reception. We are practising now though to help prepare them for a smoother transition. It is used in conjuction with the phase one books coming home too. Lots of booktalk helps them practise their language skills and give them the understanding to practise their reading skills in reception.
Please note: books are changed on a Friday, if I do not recieve the book back from the previous week, I will not be able to give your child a new book. If you have lost the book, please let me know as I have a list of the book names each child has on a weekly basis and I can give you the name of the book to look for.
If your child is staying in nursery in September, they are not taking books home, only the children moving into reception.
It is coming to the end of the year and the children are very tired. It may mean they pick up a lot of bugs or are a bit more restless. Not to worry, we are having a much more chilled time in nursery and are readying the children for their next steps, whether it may be reception or another year in nursery. If you have any concerns around behaviour or tiredness, please feel free to speak with me.
We hope you have a lovely restful weekend.
