Super Year 6
We would like to say a huge well done to our amazing Year 6 pupils who have spent this week doing their SATs.
They have worked so hard in the lead up to this week, and have been increadibly resilient throughout. We could not be prouder of them for all they have achieved.
Class Photos
On Tuesday 20th May, our school photographer will be in to take class photos. Please can parents/carers make sure that children are in full uniform on this day.
The photographer will also be taking individual photographs of new nursery children, and final photographs of our soon to be Leavers from Year 6.
Girls Cricket
Last Friday, Mr Prichard and Mrs Sims took a group of Year 5 and 6 girls to Bedminster Cricket Club for a Cricket Festival.
The day was a great introduction to a sport that most of the girls had never experienced before and they had great fun getting involved and learning some new skills.
It has been an absolute pleasure seeing our girls take on new sporting challenges and we hope to be able to offer more opportunities in Term 6 and into next school year.
Contacting School
We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents of the various ways of contacting the school:
Office Telephone - 0117 944 4844 - We endevour to answer all calls where possible, however there are times that the office is unmanned, please feel free to use our voicemail service and a member of staff will call you back.
Text Message - 07796 031 912 - You can send us a text message at any time using the CTK Office mobile number.
We would like to ask that you DO NOT use the Arbor Parent App to send messages to school. Whilst parents are able to use the service, this is not something that is set up for school use to important communication may be missed if it is sent in this
Changes to After School Clubs
Due to rehearsals for their Summer Sing, there will be no School Choir Club on Monday 19th May
Please be reminded that there will be no afterschool clubs on Friday 23rd May as it is the last day of term.
There are also some additional changes to upcoming clubs in Term 6:
Wednesday 11th June - No Chill Time Klub
Football club will run as normal, but all children will need to be collected at 4pm
Monday 16th & Tuesday 17th June - No Chill Time Klub
Other clubs on these days will run as normal, but all children will need to be collected at 4pm
There is one full week left of this term, and it has been an absolute whirlwind!
Monday's busy day had some of the children practising how to write their names, some manipulating fondant into shapes, molds and other yummy creations too.
They came into Tuesday with the same energy levels, and showed off their fantastic language learning of how to say hello. They are learning tis in conjunction with their RE about how Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be with his friends. The Holy Spirit allowed his friends to speak different languages to spread good news about God and all His wonder! Their knowledge about who Jesus was is astounding, so very well done to all the nursery children!
Tuesday afternoon gave our children the opportunity to make yogurt ice cream! One was berry and honey flavoured, the other was banana and golden syrup. Wednesday's taste test was very successful, with lots of the children asking for more.
Thursday had the children exploring the outside area without the bikes!
The instead rolled cars down a slide into a tray…..with lots of multi coloured paint. They equally enjoyed mixing the paint and rolling the cars faster and faster! They also created a beautiful tape resist art piece on the ground with chalk.
Experiments
The nursery children were treated to TWO experiments this week. The first had them smelling, listening and exploring a muddy creation. It smelled like chocolate, sounded like rain, and when squeezed, dried like mud! How amazing!
On Friday, they were dipping cocoa powder in milk and then touching it with a cocktail stick.
What happens?
Well, the cocoa powder suddenly dries and the milk is gone. The children were astounded by this!
Our pre-nursery children have been learning about the hungry caterpillar story. They have also been exploring a caterpillars lifecycle in small steps. Next week will show them how caterpillars become butterflies.
Finally, our nursery cohort have been exploring wild animals. They’ve read and learned the stories of Rumble in the Jungle and The Ugly Five. They’ve created a snake, monkey, elephant and lion, that’s hanging around the front of our class and they’ve also showed off their knowledge by matching the animal mouse to the wild animals. We have some excellent explorers!
We hope you have a restful weekend ahead of the final week of term!
