We have had another wonderful year at School of Christ the King, and it has been a pleasure teaching and growing with each and every one of our pupils.
This year the children have had the opportunity to take part in lots of exciting experiences - from our camps for years 3, 4, 5 and 6 in September to our many musical and sporting events, it certainly has been a jam packed year!
As well as our off site visits, we've seen some fantastic learning within school, and for a year that has been so full of change, it has been incredible to see how resilient all of our children have been. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them for their achievements and the progress they've made.
We are especially proud of our Year 6 class who achieved SATs results this year ABOVE national levels in the majority of areas! An amazing achievement to round of their time at CTK.
We would like to say a big thank you to all of our families and members of the community who have continued to support us this year, we look forward to building these relationships further into next academic year.
Please enjoy our CTK Highlights 24/25 as we wish you a happy and safe summer break...
Zoo Farm Fun with Year 1
At the end of last week, our Year 1 class visited Noah's Ark Zoo Farm to finish of the work they'd been doing as part of their topic this term.
After a morning of seeing lots of different animals, and managing so well in the heat, the children headed off to the park area for some well deserved play time (which Mrs Rowland quite enjoyed too!)
Sports Day 2025
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone that attended our EYFS & KS1 sports day last friday.
It was so lovely to see so many parents and family members coming along to cheer on our children.
Time to Say Goodbye
As you know, we are saying goodbye to three members of our CTK family today - Mrs Rowland, Ms Fannin and Miss Kendall.
Although the amount of time spent at CTK has been different, they have all shown such dedication to their roles, and will all be very much missed by both children and staff.
We hope you will join us in wishing us all the best!
As well as saying goodbye to staff, we are also saying goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 class. We hope you will join us in wishing them the very best as they start theur Secondary School journeys.
It has been a pleasure to have them and watch them grow into the brilliant young people they are. We are incredibly proud of them and all of the successes they have had as part of the CTK family.
Last Friday, we held a Leaver's Prom to celebrate them and their many successes - here are the highlights of the night....

The Reading Agency have announced this year's Summer Reading Challenge - Story Garden.

They have all already been spending time in school and getting to know the children, and we look forward to having them here full time in the new school year. Please join us in wishing them a big CTK welcome!
Mosque Visit
On Monday, as part of their RE work, our KS2 children had an interactive visit from the Imam Ahsan Amin from the Bristol Jamia Mosque in Totterdown.
It was a great opportunity to find out about the different aspects of the Muslim religion and the children really invested in the experience, asking some fantastic, inquisitive questions.

Medication

New School Year Mass
When we return to school in September we will be holding a special Mass at CTK church to welcome everyone to the new school year.
The Mass will take place on Thursday 11th September at 9.30am and we look forward to seeing you all there.
Dropping off/Picking Up
Please remember that as your child changes year group, their entrance/exit may have changed. Children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 & Year 6 should enter and exit through the main reception doors. Children in Years 3, 4 & 5 should come and go through the back car park gates.
Please can we also remind parents and carers that they should not be entering the car park area before 8.30am - this is a high traffic area until this time.
School Meals
If your child is moving into Year 3, they will no longer be entitled to Univeral Free School Meals and will need to pay for school dinners. Meals are charged at £2.90 per day and can be paid for via the School Gateway App. If you think your child may be entitled to Free School meals, please visit https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/schools-learning-and-early-years/travel-and-free-school-meals/free-school-meals to apply during the summer holidays.
Lateness
The school day begins at 8.40am and children should be in school before the doors close at 8.50am.
Please be aware, that from September, unless we are informed that your child will be late for a specific reason, they will automatically be booked in for a school meal and will not get the full choice of lunch menu. School dinner numbers need to be with the school kitchen by 9.30am and lateness not only has an impact on their own learning, but also has an effect on the running of the school office and kitchen.
Late Collection
Please can we politely remind parents and carers the importance of collecting your child from school, and after school clubs on time. We have had a number of late collections this school year, and as a result we will be bringing our 'Charges and Remissions' policy infor force from September:
'Collecting children is the responsibility of the parent / career. Due to the impact this is having on staff, the school reserves the right to start charging after 5 occurrences (In a term) where a parent is late to collect their child / children by 10 minutes. After the 6th occurrence the charge will be £5.00. If after this there is a continuation of persistent lateness, the fee will increase by 10% on each subsequence late collection.'
To view the full 'Charges and Remissions' policy, please see the policies page of the school website
Uniform Reminders
As we head into the new school year, please can we politely remind parents and carers about the expectations around school uniform.
We have had a number of children coming in to school wearing various levels of non-uniform recently, and as a result you may have received a text message from us to let you know.
Correct uniform also extends to school PE kit and it's important that children are wearing the correct kit on their PE Day.
We would also like to politely ask that whilst skirts an shorts are a part of our uniform, please can we make sure that they are of an appropraite length.
If there is a specific reason that your child is not wearing uniform, it's important that you let us know - we may be able to offer support with this.
YOU CAN NOW ORDER YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOL UNIFORM ONLINE, DIRECT FROM OUR SUPPLIER AT southwestcp.co.uk
For more information on school uniform - please visit our dedicated uniform page
Though this week has been chaotic with leaving assemblies, balloon surprises, special snacks and lots of messy play, it does not feel long enough.
The children have been amazing and though we are very sad to see some of them moving on to their very exciting next steps, we know they will have lots of fun in their new classes.
The children who are staying with us in nursery will get to meet and make lots of new friends this coming September and we are very excited to have them for another year.
Though this weeks news is short, we hope the video makes up for it. It is a mixture of photos from across this past year showing you the children's fun and hard work, their joy and learning comes in all aspects, mostly from perspectives the adults do not see. Observing how their minds work in approaches different tasks is very rewarding and we can see how much happiness they get from working things out for themselves and surprising their teachers too.
We hope everyone has a wonderful summer holidays and has a very happy start to their next school year in September, wherever that may be.
Miss Dale and the Nursery Team
