Goodbye, for now...
Many of you may have noticed that Miss Harvey has been sporting a very large baby bump for a while!
Today was her last day at work before she goes off on maternity leave, and whilst she will be incredibly missed by everyone here, we can't think of anyone more deserving of a little rest before she welcomes her bundle of joy into the world!
We hope you will join us in wishing her and her partner the very best of luck as they start their journey into parenthood. We will make sure to keep you updated when the newest addition to the CTK family has arrived!
Football Focus
What a fantastic time our footballers have had this week...
Monday morning started with our Year 5/6 girls taking part in a football tournament organised by the Robins Foundation.
The girls were up against some really strong teams and whilst they only won one of their matches, they played brilliantly and worked amazingly as a team.
Monday afternoon saw the boys take on the second set of their tournaments.
It was great to see Peace, Kaison, Kaylum and Jenson joining the squad this week!
Big thanks again to the our staff who supported these events, and to all the parents who turned out to cheer the children on!
Engineering Excellence
This week, Year 6 were visited by engineering students from Bristol University as part of the 'Digimakers' scheme which aims to engage children in electronics engineering and computing
The children had the opportunity to learn how to programme their own digital pets. It was great to see them so inspired!
Earrings
Please can we take this opportunity to remind parents;
Children are welcome to wear one pair of stud earrings. Studs should be small and plain, and should not have any additional embellishments.
They should not be wearing hooped or dangling earrings under any circumstances. These types of earrings are a health and safety risk.
Should your child be seen to be wearing earrings that pose a health and safety issue at school, they may be covered with tape and you will be asked to remove them before the next school day.
We thank you for your ongoing support with this matter.
Holy Communion
If your child is in Year 3 or above, and would like to take their Holy Communion this year, application forms can be collected from the Parish Priest after Mass on Sunday 25th January, or from Mrs Triggs at any other Sunday Masses after this date.
Club Changes
From next week, Thursday's Move & Groove will be replaced by Multi-Sports
This week has been busy like always.
The nursery children have been independently practising their name writing during group time, whilst the other children have been working on their fine motor, maths and phonics skills.
The new children are settling in nicely and friendships are starting to build well. Our nursery children have been taking good care of the pre-nursery and are being good role models for behaviour and boundaries within the nursery.
The children have been learning of Feeding the 5000 this week, in which they made their own bread for toast and decorated fish for a display of their learning. They each took turns are learned of the quick process of making bread with a bread mix. The learned how to knead with a hand wave motion and then saw how their dough had risen while it sat on the radiator.
They also sand their RE songs again and are starting to get the hang of Father Abraham too.
In our celebration of the word sessions, the children's mission this week was to think to Jesus' kind words to others and use their own kind words to their friends.
They have all shown good choices this week in their play, general routines within the classroom and towards their friends. What a lovely bunch we have.
As ever, we hope you all have a lovely restful weekend,
Miss Dale and the Nursery Team
If your child has received a Head Teachers award this week, you are welcome to join us for Celebration Assesmbly on Monday to help them celebrate as they are awarded their certificate. Please arrive at school at 2.40pm ready for assembly to start at 2.45pm

The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
