Happy New Year
Welcome back to all our pupils and families after what we hope was a restful Christmas break and New Year.
We are looking forward to Term 3 at CTK and have lots of exciting things planned for the children, so keep an eye out for news of upcoming events!
Epiphany Mass
On Wednesday, we welcomed the children back to school and started the New Year with Epiphany Mass at Christ the King Church.
It was wonderful to have all of the children back again and celebrate together.
Remember, all parents, carers and families are welcome to join us for Mass, so please keep an eye on the school calendar for our next dates.
Please also remember that Christ the King Church holds a Sunday Mass which everyone is welcome to attend. This takes place at 9.00am each week (this replaces the previous 5pm Mass)

RSE Consultation with Parents
Relationships Education is a compulsory part of the school curriculum and is taught alongside our core PSHE programme.
We are currently using the 'Life to the Full' programme, which has been produced by the Catholic education organisation, Ten Ten Resources.
When we introduced this scheme parents were invited to be involved in a full consultation, so we would like to take this opportunity to touch base with parents who may be new to the school to allow them to view the materials available and have their say.
We would like to invite parents to view the materials available - please check our RSE page - and then join us for a meeting on either Wednesday 14th January or Thursday 22nd January. Please contact the school office if you would like to attend.
This meeting would give parents an opportunity to learn a little more about how this particular topic is taught.
Behaviour
Here at CTK, we're proud that the behaviour of our pupils is generally great
and visitors to our school regularly comment on how calm and positive the environment is.
Unfortunately, there are occassions where we have to deal with challenging
behaviour, and we do this following our school behaviour policy, working
together with parents to resolve any issues.
We like to work closely with parents to support behaviour both in and out of school, so with this in mind, from Monday 19th January, if a child has been sent to a member of the School Leadership Team due to poor behaviour, parents will be informed of this via text message.
If, in the unfortunate event your child is sent to SLT more than once during the week, these texts will be followed up with a letter home.
Please also be assured that staff continue to communicate verbally with parents when there has been a behaviour concern - and parents are welcome to contact us should they have any concerns of their own - these texts and letters will be an additional tool to keep everyone informed.
If you would like more information on how we deal with behaviour at school, you can view the full policy here
We hope that incidents resulting in these messages will be few, however than you in advance for working with us to support positive behaviour at our school.
Reception Class Admissions - September 2026
If you, or someone you know, has a child that was born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022, it's now time to apply for your Reception Class place.
The deadline to apply for Reception Class 2026 is Thursday 15th January so time is running out!
Please visit https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/schools-learning-and-early-years/school-admissions/primary-admissions/primary-apply or contact Miss Morse in the school office who can provide you with a paper copy of the application form.
We also still have spaces available in our current Reception class, as well as space in Year 2 and Nursery Class. If you know of anyone looking for space in these year groups, please get in touch!
Uniform Reminders
Please can we politely remind parents and carers about the expectations around school uniform.
https://www.ctk.education/info/school-uniform
Please be aware that we have made the following change:
Children are welcome to wear leggings, however these must be PLAIN black with no logos.
Correct uniform also extends to school PE kit and it's important that children are wearing the correct kit on their PE Day.
We would also like to politely ask that whilst skirts and shorts are a part of our uniform, please can we make sure that they are of an appropriate length.
We would also like to remind parents that the only jewellery that should be worn to school is one pair of stud earrings. Children should not be wearing hooped or dangling earrings under any circumstances. These types of earrings are a health and safety risk, and should your child be seen to be wearing them at school, they will be covered with tape and you will be asked to remove them before the next school day.
Thank you for your ongoing co-operation with this matter
Celebrating Epiphany
The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
Ten:Ten Faith Newsletter - December
The Ten:Ten monthly parent newsletter gives you an overview of the content children will experience in school throughout the month and suggestions of ways for you to engage with them about it at home.
