**inset day - friday 30th june**
Despite the long and very warm walk, the children had a wonderful time and we're sure they will share their learning with you. We look forward to being able to share with them more experiences like this that show the different cultures and traditions that make up our school community.
Smoking on/around school site
Please can we politely ask that parents avoid smoking at the front of the school site when dropping children off and collecting them.
We have had a number of complaints recently about parents smoking directly outside the gates, which can be unpleasent for passers-by, as well as damaging to health.
We would also like to remind parents that they SHOULD NOT be smoking whilst at the back gates during drop off/pick up time. This is part of the school site, and smoking is prohibited whilst on school grounds.
Thank you for your co-operation with this issue.
Please can we remind everyone that children should be using their correct entrances to enter and leave school each day.
Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 should be coming in/out through the main school entrance, and Years 3, 4 & 5 should be using the back gates through the car park.
If there is a specific reason that a child needs to use a different entrance/exit, please ensure this is discussed with school staff.
Warm Weather Advice
As the weather has been getting much warmer, we would like to remind parents to send their children into school prepared for the day's weather.
We strongly recommend that all children come to school wearing sun-cream and with a water bottle, which they can refill throughout the day as necessary.
We also ask that children bring some kind of hat to provide protection from the sun whilst on the playground. Please be reminded however that all items of clothing should be named to avoid items being lost.
Changes to timings of the school day
From September, we are looking into adding 5 minutes onto the end of each school day, meaning the day would finish at 3.20pm and not 3.15pmn as it currently does. (These changes will not apply to the Nursery Class)
We would like to get parent's thoughts and feelings on this, so if you have any concerns or opinions, please speak to Miss Morse in the school office who will be happy to pass any comments to our Governing Body.
