Rememberance Day

On Monday, our Chaplaincy Team presented a special Rememberance Day assembly.

Remembrance Day (also called Armistice Day or Poppy Day) is a Memorial Day celebrated in Commonwealth countries. Remembrance Day is all about commemorating those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country in the line of duty. It also celebrates and supports veterans of combat. Originally, the day commemorated Armistice Day and the end of the First World War, but has subsequently become a memorial for all those who have lost their lives in any conflict.

Remembrance Day is celebrated every year on November 11th. The reason we observe Remembrance Day on November 11th is because hostilities formally ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" in 1918. Many countries around the world will hold a minute, a moment or two minutes silence at 11am on the 11th as a mark of commemoration and respect. Remembrance Sunday is also celebrated, particularly in the UK - this is commemorated on the Sunday closest to the 11th.

Fantastic Fundraising

We have had a great day raising money for Children in Need today and have loved seeing the children (and staff!)  in all their Pudsey glory!

Children in Need is a very worthy cause, funding thousands of charities and projects across the UK. This funding supports children and young people to feel and be safer, have improved mental health and wellbeing, form better and more positive relationships and be given more equal opportunities to flourish.

We are extremely grateful to all of you who donated today, and will keep you updated of the total once the money has been counted.

Bristol Schools Winter Sing at Bristol Beacon

Parents of our Choir children will already know that our fabulous singers will be taking part in the Bristol Beacon Winter Sing on Monday 2nd December 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity for our pupils, who will take to the stage with other schools across the city, and perform infront of a real live audience!

If you would like to book tickets to the show, to cheer our choir on - they can be purchased via the Bristol Beacon website...

Christ the King Parish - Christmas Bazaar

This year, the Christ the King Parish will be returning to school with their Christmas Bazaar!

Today, KS2 children have been sent home with 'Christmas Bazaar Draw' ticket booklets.

If you would like to enter the draw, we would like to ask that you complete slips attached to tickets, and return them to us, along with payment (£2.50 per booklet) by Friday 29th November.

The draw will take place during the Bazaar on Saturday 7th December.

If you do not wish to purchase tickets to the draw, please return the booklets to the school office.

We will also be running a school stall at the Bazaar! If parents and carers have any unwated gifts or items that they would like to donate, they would be gratefully received.

Feast of Christ the King

The Feast of Christ the King is a Catholic celebration that takes place on the last Sunday of the liturgical year in the Catholic faith.

It is a way to recognise Jesus Christ as the 'King of Kings' and honour him as Lord over all creation.

To celebrate The Feast of Christ the King we will be holding a Mass at the church on Friday 22nd November.

The Mass will begin at 9.30am and all parents, carers and families are welcome to join us.

Anti-Bullying Week

This week in Anti-bullying week, we have been focussing on choosing respect and thinking about how being respectful links with our Catholic Social Teaching about solidarity (being better and stronger together) and the common good (what’s right is right for most).

The children have learnt to respect people's differences, to respect their friends and people who aren't our friends yet and have thought about how repect helps us with friendships and solving problems, especially when resolving conflict. Remember to ask your children what we have learnt!

Breakfast Club

Our trial of free Breakfast Club sessions have been running for the past few weeks and we've had a great turn out of pupils joining us to see what's on offer before school each day.

Next week, on Wednesday 20th November we would like to invite all Reception Class pupils in for a free taster session.

Breakfast Club runs from 8am daily and not only gives children a chance to enjoy a healthy breakfast with friends, it also supports attendance, ensuring children are in school on time ready to start the school day.

There is no need to book these free sessions, children are welcome to just turn up, provided they arrive before 8.20am when the doors will close.

We look forward to seeing lots of families using these sessions, and hopefully attending Breakfast Club more regularly.
