Year 3 Cooking
Year 3 have been having a brilliant time learning lots of new cooking skills with the Square Food Foundation. From rainbow hummus to spiced cous cous with halloumi, they have been able to try new foods and share these tasty treats with their families. We're all looking forward to learning more after the Easter break.
READ ALL ABOUT IT ...
Our hardworking Newspaper Club were rewarded this week with an extra special lunch from KFC - which was only slightly scuppered by a delivery error or two! Perhaps we'll see a scathing review from Ronnie-May in next term's issue (she'll probably still be waiting for her chicken burger!)

New Term Menu
When the children return to school after the Easter break, there will be a new school meals menu in place.
All children have been sent home with a paper copy, and you can also view the menu here
Anti-Racism Campaign
It is very dissapointing to report, that unfortunately, we have had a small number of racist incidents at school recently. Rest assured that this kind of incident is not taken lightly and they have been swiftly dealt with, with support of parents and carers.
As a school we are lucky enough to have families from all around the world, and we embrace the diversity and culture that this brings to our school. Whilst these incidents do happen, they are uncommon, and not representative of the loving and accepting environment we strive to provide to our pupils.
Next term we will be doing some in depth work with children to tackle this issue and look forward to working alongside parents to ensure these issues are not something that continues at our school.
Football Focus
This week our Y5/6 and girls football teams represented CTK in the football FINALS! First time ever having two teams at the event which was brilliant, even if it did mean staff running between the two teams trying to catch all matches! Both teams played brilliantly scoring goals and making some incredible saves - so much so that other teams were coming up praising our goalies! The girls walked away with second place and can be so proud of how far they have come as a team.
The boys came fourth out of a massive 28 teams so can hold their heads high (after dubious decision making from the ref) that they are, in organiser Cherry’s words, the crème de la crème of Bristol primary football! Well done everyone, it’s been great seeing so much success at the football pitches of Imperial.

lent fundraising
Our Lent fundraising came to an end today with our Easter Egg Raffle!
There were so many winners and I'm sure the children will tell you how exciting the draw was!
We cannot thank you enough for your continued generosity during the Lenten period. All of your donations will be counted over the Easter break and we will let you know how much we've raised at the beginning of Term 5.
recruitment
Lunch Time Supervisors
We are currently looking for a temporary member of staff to join our School Meals Supervisory Assistant (SMSA) team. The role is 5 hours per week, worked between 12.30 - 1.30pm.
If you are interested in applying for this role, please contact Miss Morse in the school office.
Building Maintenance
Are you a self-employed building maintenance worker with public liability insurance?
If you are, our school and some of our fellow Aquinas Partnership schools are interested in talking to you about small maintenance jobs across our schools at a reasonable price. These jobs could range from attaching door finger guards to shelving or fencing.
If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact St Bernadette Primary: 01173772373 or head.st.bernadette.p@bristol-schools.uk
Do you have our school app yet?
The School Gateway app is the best (and cheapest) way to stay in touch with us here at CTK.
Not only can it be used to book children into clubs, it's also a great messaging service.
Text messages, whilst useful, cost us a lot of money to send and we're sure you agree, we'd rather spend our budget on more resources and opportunities for our children. So, going forward, we're going to utilise the app more, to avoid sending as many text messages.
If you've not yet downloaded the app, you can find it on GooglePlay and the App Store under School Gateway. Here's a handy guide to get you started....
https://schoolgateway.co.uk/get-started/
Without the app, you might miss important information going forward, so we strongly encourage all parents to sign up - it's completely free and a great way to stay in touch!!
ATTENDANCE
Holidays during term time
Please can we once again remind parents that they should not be taking holidays during term time. If you book a holiday outside of the designated school holidays, it is important that you complete a Leave of Absence Request Form to inform us of your plans to take your child out of school. Parents should also be aware that any holidays booked during term time will result in a penalty notice (fine).
Lateness
Doors are open for children to come in to school from 8.40am and children should be in school ready for registration by 8.50am.
Children arriving after 9.00am will receive late mark and those who arrive after 9.20am will receive an unauthorised mark for the morning session. Multiple occurrences of lateness can have a negative effect on your child's overall attendance and in some cases may result in a penalty notice (fine).
Breakfast Club is available to all pupils from 8.00am (charged at £1 per day for children R-Y6 and £3 for Nursery) and is a great way to ensure children are in school on time, and ready for the school day.
