Year 3/4 Football

This week, our Year 3 and 4 boys had their first match in a local schools football tournament. This was the first time the boys football team have played together and they won 4 out of 4 games, without even conceding a goal!!

Thank you to all of the parents for coming out to support them. We are all very proud to watch a new side representing CTK!

Filwood Library Development

We've done lots of talking recently about the developments that are underway around Filwood Broadway, and it's so exciting to see all these ideas taking shape and coming together.

This week, You & Me Architecture were back at CTK working with our Year 4 class, to gather ideas for the new Filwood Library...

The children created models of what they would like the new library to look like and what kinds of things they would like included.

We can't wait to see their ideas come to life in the future!

Sickness

As you are probably aware, we have had a high number of children absent in the last few weeks, with flu-like symptoms, sore throats and vomiting.

The health and welfare of our pupils is of the utmost importance to us at CTK, and we do our best to make sure children feel well whilst they are in our care. With this in mind, we have arranged for a deep clean of the school during the half term break.

We are hoping that this cleaning, together with children having some time at home to rest, will eliminate the majority of the nasty bugs floating around school meaning everyone can come back healthy, and ready to go in Term 4.

Parents can also support us in limiting the spread of germs, by keeping children at home if they have vomited or had diarrhea. We ask that children stay off for 48 hours from the last episode of sickness or diarrhea.

Outdoor Transformations

Over the past few months, our talented team of builders have been transforming our outdoor areas to enable the children additional room to learn and grow. We now have a special outdoor learning area outside of Year 2, and after half term, work will have been completed on our new Nursery climbing area.

Once the building work was finished for Year 2, Miss Watson, Mr Purser and his DIY Club team added some finishing touches to make it a welcoming space for all of the children.

Excellent Engineering

This week, Year 6 were lucky enough to have some visitors from the University of Bristol Engineering Department. They learnt how to code and create their own Tamagotchi - we had lots of very sleepy and hungry virtual pets! We have some super-star coders who I'm sure will have futures in the world of science and engineering.

Year 6 VR Club

After the half term break, Mr Condon will be running a Virtual Reality club on a Thursday lunchtime for Year 6 Pupils.

This will be a great opportunity for them to explore the world using our new VR headsets!

If your child is interested in joining, they just need to speak to Mr Condon when we return from the break.

ATTENDANCE

Holidays during term time

Please can we once again remind parents that they should not be taking holidays during term time. If you book a holiday outside of the designated school holidays, it is important that you complete a Leave of Absence Request Form to inform us of your plans to take your child out of school. Parents should also be aware that any holidays booked during term time will result in a penalty notice (fine).

Lateness

Doors are open for children to come in to school from 8.40am and children should be in school ready for registration by 8.50am.

Children arriving after 9.00am will receive late mark and those who arrive after 9.20am will receive an unauthorised mark for the morning session. Multiple occurrences of lateness can have a negative effect on your child's overall attendance and in some cases may result in a penalty notice (fine).

Breakfast Club is available to all pupils from 8.00am (charged at £1 per day for children R-Y6 and £3 for Nursery) and is a great way to ensure children are in school  on time, and ready for the school day.
