Reception Class Library Visit

Last Friday, Reception Class enjoyed their first visit to Filwood Library.

They had the opportunity to explore the books, share stories and see what their local library had to offer.

There is no age requirement to join the library - and it's completely free!

If you are interested in joining the library, please pop into Filwood Library or visit https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/libraries-and-archives

Year 6 London Visit

Year 6 had a fantastic trip to London on Wednesday, including a full 8.5 hours on the coach!

They saw all the main attractions, including some pelicans the same size as Freddie!!

We timed it perfectly to be up close to some guards changing and they even let us stroke their horse!

An excellent day all round in our Capital City!

EScooters this Christmas

As you may be aware, it is currently illegal to ride privately owned Electric Scooters on the road.

Please see the advice below we have been provided by Avon and Somerset Police if you are thinking of buying your child at EScooter for Christmas:

Under 11s Football Tournament

Our Year 5/6 football team represented CTK brilliantly at Imperial Sports Ground today with a very closely contested group stage.

We won our first two games! A really brilliant team effort, with everyone playing their part and showing that CTK is a team to challenge.

Great sportsmanship was displayed by all. Our next tournament will be in January so watch this space for more footie updates!

Online Safety

Does your child have an electronic device at home?

Do you know what they're playing and who they're playing with?

Do you regularly check what they're looking at online?

In this day and age, the internet and online gaming are a huge part of daily life - especially for young people. So it's really important that we help to keep them safe online by talking to our children about what they are accessing online, and giving them the tools to support them should they encounter words, images, or even games that make them feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

There is plenty of advice available to support parents in keeping their children safe online:

Our #WakeupWednesday page offers weekly advice around online safety: https://www.ctk.education/support/online-safety/wakeupwednesdays

ThinkUKnow is run by the National Crime Agency and is full of advice for parents, children and professionals to protect children from online abuse:

The NSPCC offers a whole range of support, from how to talk to your children about online safety, to online wellbeing:

Storing Bikes and Scooters

Please can we politely request, that if children are using the bike shed at the front of the school that they properly park up their bikes and scooters.

We have had a number of instances this week where both bikes and scooters have been dumped in the entrance to the lock-up, which has made it difficult for others to get in and out of the area.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation with this matter.

ATTENDANCE

Almost There...

A big well done to Years 1, 4 & 6 for achieving 98% attendance this week - so close to a 99%+ reward!

Remember - Lateness and medical appointments all have an effect attendance so it's important to be on time for school every day, and to try and make sure any appointments are made outside of the school day.

Holidays during term time - SATS WEEK 13th - 17th May 2024

As you are aware, we always request that families do not take time off for holidays during term time and this is especially important for children in Year 6 during SATs week. This year, SATs week will take place from Monday 13th May - Friday 17th May 2024.

Guidance from the Department for Education states that children will only have the opportunity to retake their SATs tests if they have been absent due to exceptional circumstances - this does not include holidays. Please ensure holidays are not booked during this week.
