Building Works - Filwood Broadway

As you have probably noticed, there's lots of exciting work going on in the area with the redevelopment of Filwood Broadway.

Next week, the demolition of the old cinema will begin and whilst we have been assured this should cause minimal disruption to school, there will be increased traffic around the site so we would like to remind families to be vigilant whilst travelling to and from school.

The development also means that the lane that runs behind the buildings on Filwood Broadway (from Hartcliffe Road to Barnstaple Road) will be closed for a period of time during the works. Whilst we don't know exactly when this closure will happen, please keep an eye out as we know many parents use this lane to access school and you may need to allow extra time to plan an alternative route to school.

After School Clubs / Lunch Time Clubs

As we now have Choir running after school every Monday, Ukulele club has now moved to a Tuesday lunch time. If your child is interested in joining, please ask them to speak to Mr Condon.

We also have Spanish Club running with Mrs Jordan on a Thursday lunch time. Spanish Club is available to Children in Years 1 & 2, please speak to Mrs Jordan if your child would like to join.

Please can we remind parents to book their children in to afterschool  clubs using the School Gateway App before 12.00noon on the day of the session.

Girls Netball

The Year 5 and 6 girls netball team went out to a friendly tournament at Ashton Park School this week. The afternoon was a fun mix of drills and competitive matches - the girls showed great teamwork and determination. They were passing the ball into space and making lots of interceptions all down the court. Well done and looking forward to going again in a couple of weeks time.

New Guests in EYFS!

This term the children in EYFS have been learning all about animals.

This week they have been observing ten eggs hatch into fluffy little chicks. Today the chicks moved to a bigger home. The children have been so excited and really enjoyed holding them today!

A social enterprise at the heart of Filwood (or Knowle West as you probably know it), supporting the community with their day to day needs while helping young people struggling in mainstream education to get out into the world and learn new skills.

We're sure that Hannah will come back to visit us again soon, so if there's something specific you're looking for within the community, please come along to our coffee mornings, Friday 9.00-9.30am.
