World Book Day
We've had a fantastic day at school today, celebrating World Book Day and it was wonderful to see so many children dressed up for the occassion...
As well as our World Book Day celebrations, we were also collecting for the Matthew Tree Project as part of our Lenten Fundraising - we had a huge amount of food donations so would like to say a big thanks to everyone for their ongoing generosity!
Poster Competition
In the lead up to World Book Day, the children were invited to take part in a Poster Competition. The competition was open to all children across the school, and WOW! the children really put their all into taking part!
We had an overwhelming number of entries, so many that Miss Garrett had to go and buy extra prizes because they were just SO great!
We would have loved to make everyone a winner, but after much deliberation...we have narrowed it down...
Holy Communion
Please be reminded that the deadline to register your child for Holy Communion is Wednesday 11th March.
If your child is in Year 3 or above, and you would like them to take their First Holy Communion this year, please come into school and speak with Mrs Miller.
Earrings
We would like to once again say a big thank you to all of the parents who have supported us in ensuring their children are coming in to school wearing the correct earrings. The safety of our children is our utmost concern and it has been great to see so many of you working with us to ensure children are coming in to school in clothing and accessories that support our attempts to keep them safe during their time with us.
We've had a wonderful first few weeks of term, and the generosity of our families has been wonderful to see.
We continue our fundraising efforts next week with our old classic...PENNY TRAIL!
As part of our Lenten fundraising, Mr Condon will be running his very own raffle!
In the window of his office, is a jar of his famous HOME MADE pickled onions! For a 50p donation, children can have a chance to guess the amount of onions in the jar! The winning guess will win a large easter egg (or the jar of pickled onions if they really want them!!)
Children wishing to take part please speak to Mr Condon
What wonderful weather it has been this week!
Every day the children have been able to go into the garden to play, climb, explore and use the different equipment we have.
On Monday, the children enjoyed bucket time in which they had Miss Dale finding letters in jelly. As a letter was pulled from the jelly, they either said its sound or said the name of a child whose name started with that letter/ sound. Afterwards they were tasked with finding their name writing sheet and practising their letter formation.
Every week we do this exercise and every week we can see the improvement and development of each and every child.
On Tuesday, the children learned of the importance of Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.
They each had a cross on their forehead after a discussion around Jesus being in the desert and not being tempted by poor choices. The children gave examples of good choices and made sure to seek an adult when a poor choice was made throughout the day. They certainly put their learning into action.
Wednesday had the children celebrating Holi. A Hindu festival.
It is a vibrant festival celebrating good winning over evil and the end of Winter. It tells te story of Prahald and Holika, honoring love and strengthening relationships through colour, music and food.
The children and teachers had a blast thrpwing the powder paints at each other and requested more paint to throw. A request that was happily granted.
All the children spent their entire day in nursery, covered in the colourful paint. What an amazing memory to have and share.
Thursday and Friday have been calmer days compared to the Holi celebration. The children have been doing lots of singing, dancing, crafting and learning to share. They are all working on different skill development whether it be fine motor or gross motor skills. The children we have in the nursery are all very special and truly show off their best selves, every time they come into class.
What a cracking bunch they are, you should all be proud!
Special recognition to Josh this week. He has made some really good choices in supporting his friends, sharing well and caring for others around him. He has been an absolute superstar this week!
Well done Josh!
Enjoy a lovely weekend and have a nice rest ahead of next week,
Miss Dale and the Nursery Team
As well as Headteachers awards, and reward in class, children at CTK can also earn 'leaves' for demonstrating our Gospel Values outside of the classroom. These leaves are added to the Tree in our foyer, which grows more and more throughout the school year...
The Wednesday Word
The Wednesday Word is a special publication created to connect home, school and parish.
Every Wednesday a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, will be suggested for families to talk about in the home. The Wednesday Word is structured around the Sunday Gospel, because evidence shows that Gospel values really do help family relationships to thrive.
