Over the last two years, the school has worked hard to generate an engaging curriculum focusing on:
Improving language use and understanding.
Children learning through experience.
Developing children’s independent learning skills.
Raising standards across the wider curriculum.
Foundation topics and science are taught via an enquiry based approach and involve an engaging ‘experience’ and where practicable, linked to the locality.
Opportunities for cross-curricular maths and writing have been planned for each topic area and DT and art (e.g. Day of the Dead masks for the Y5 topic of South America) are also linked, so learning opportunities are contextualised and immersive.
